Paul says his market business is building up. “Like most businesses, it’s peaks and troughs, but I do get a good rapport with local people here,” he added.
The friendliness and rapport of Penistone market is everything to Sharon Hallam, who began selling collectibles on the market two years ago.
“I used to have a shop but after I retired I needed something to get me out of the house,” she said.
“I do a roaring trade here. Of course, I buy at a good price and sell at a good price. But really for me it is about getting out of the house and meeting people.”
And that community feel is what has made Penistone market such an important hub down the years.
