THE NMTF’s annual conference wll be back at the Crowne Plaza in Stratford- upon-Avon next April — and it promises to be better than ever.
A fire at the hotel just a week after last year’s event meant it was closed for nearly five months. But during that time the hotel management has carried out extensive refurbishment which must make an attractive, four-star hotel even more
appealing.
So, make a note of the date — Monday April 14
2025.
As always the conference will include a
President’s Dinner in the evening.
And as before the NMTF will pay for the travel costs for Liaison Officers to get to and from the event — plus an overnight stay on the Monday night.
Once again the NMTF will be setting the stage for the only forum where operators, market managers and traders can get together to debate and discuss both the initiatives and concerns of our industry.
The theme and format of the conference is still in the planning stage and more details — including fees — will be available later in the year.
NMTF CEO Joe Harrison said: “We’re confident the venue will be even better than last year.
“There’s no doubt it’s a great location in the centre of the country.”

NMTF annual awards — send us your nominations
NOMINATIONS are invited for the NMTF’s annual awards — the John Carter/Harry Cross Memorial Cup, the Market Manager of the Year, and the NMTF/Harry Cross Student Grant.
The Memorial Cup will go to anyone judged to have done the most for market traders over and above the normal call of duty. Anyone involved in the markets industry can be nominated (with the exception of Executive Board members).
If you know someone you
believe is worthy of the honour, send details, including a brief summary of what he or she has done, to the NMTF at Hampton House to arrive no later than March 7 2025.
The Dennis Williams Memorial Trophy for Market Manager of the Year is named after an NMTF Past President and Honorary Life Member who died in November 2009.
Officers nominated need not be the market manager — superinten- dents, supervisors, inspectors — indeed anyone in a day-to-day
managerial role can be nominated. So do you know an officer who goes that extra mile, perhaps
beyond the call of duty?
If so, all you have to do is tell us,
in no more than 200 words, why you think that person deserves the award.

Please do not forget to include your name, the nominee’s name
and title, the market on which he or she works and your contact details. The deadline is March 7 2025.
The 2025 NMTF/Harry Cross Student Grant is available to the son or daughter of a member of the NMTF who has completed one term or semester at a British University.
The closing date for applications is March 7 2025. While the grant is not large it is sufficient to purchase books or equipment.
